🎶 Our GCS Middle School Band (grades 6–8) is all about teamwork and the joy of making music together. It’s one of the moments in their school day when every student is working their hardest at the same time—coming together to create something truly special as a team.

In our new GAP Club, students have been exploring the history of photography. This is a wonderful way to begin their learning journey before they start working with a modern camera.

📚 Each summer, our 1st–4th grade students at GCS get to borrow a bookbag filled with books of their choice to enjoy during break. This year, those who read every single one of their books were entered into a drawing for a Scholastic poster—and we’re excited to share that over 20 lucky winners were selected!
A huge thank you to PTSA, Kiwanis, and the Girl Scouts for supporting this program in so many ways throughout the years. Your efforts continue to make reading fun and rewarding for our students!

Last night, GCS was proud to host a cross country meet with several schools joining us on our course! Our runners gave it their all- pushing themselves, cheering each other on, and showing outstanding sportsmanship from start to finish.
We also had the special honor of celebrating our Cross Country Senior Night, highlighting Simon, James, and Raphael! Congratulations to our seniors and to the entire team for representing GCS with pride!

Happy and ready to learn! 💙💙

Ms. Hensler’s second graders are mastering the parts of a complete sentence in a fun way! Using word cards, students built and wrote silly sentences—like “A cat was eating pizza on the playground.” 🤣
Such a creative and engaging way to learn—keep up the great work, 2nd grade!

Mrs. Greer’s 5th graders are diving into math in a hands-on way! Students are exploring the concepts of volume and measuring in square units, building a strong foundation for real-world problem-solving.

Our third graders are putting their teamwork skills to the test! Working in groups, they’re practicing “Accountability Talk” as they collaborate to either save Fred the worm or solve a mystery puzzle. It’s all about communication, problem-solving, and learning together!

We want to thank Duncan Kirkwood for joining us today and sharing his inspirational message of perseverance, goal-setting, and purpose with our students in grades 3–12.
Duncan encouraged our students to dream big, not let failure hold them back, and to discover their true purpose—the things they love to do. His words were uplifting, motivating, and left a lasting impact on our school community! 💙

Students in Mrs. Terzo and Mrs. Ross' class had a blast in PE with Mr. Mix and Mr. Grimsley! The students enjoyed playing games with the parachute—crawling underneath, laughing together, and especially playing the favorite game, Cat and Mouse!

Mrs. Cheney, Mrs. Wilcox, and Mrs. Garcia’s 7th-grade ELA students are kicking off the first quarter by exploring background information on the four independent reading books they’ll get to choose from. The students pictured are learning about the importance of clean water—a valuable resource that’s often taken for granted.

💙 In the first week of school, Mrs. Savino’s third graders focused on building classroom community! After listening to the story“The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors,” students joined in a class-wide competition while practicing the Go Blue traits of understanding, optimism, and bravery. Way to start the year strong, third graders!
