Graphic Design students took on a real-world packaging challenge: designing a product that comes in a resealable pouch. Each student created three variations of their product, focusing on branding, consistency, and visual impact. From bold concepts to thoughtful details, these designs show how small changes can make a big difference.

🌱🐾 Second graders are learning all about seed dispersal! They’ve discovered that seeds can be spread by wind, water, and animals. To explore this, students tested how seeds can “stick” to fluffy animals and be carried to new places. They placed a model seed on our “fluffadoo” animal and hopped around to see how long the seed stayed on. Keep up the great work, second grade!
Last month, our 9th grade class spent the day exploring the Buffalo AKG Art Museum.
Students walked through galleries filled with textures, brushstrokes, scale, and color combinations that simply don’t translate through a screen. Standing inches away from a canvas and seeing every intentional mark is a powerful reminder that art is a physical conversation between the artist and the viewer.
Experiences like this highlight why studying art matters- it opens our eyes, inspires creativity, and challenges us to see the world (and our own work) in new ways.

🎄💌 Before break, Yorker’s Local History Club made holiday cards for veterans hospitalized at the Veterans Hospital in Canandaigua. It was a meaningful way for students to spread kindness and gratitude this holiday season.

🏆👏 Our 4x4 relay team from last season’s track team, who won the state championship, were honored earlier this week at our Board of Education Meeting by Senator Pam Helming and Assemblywoman Andrea Bailey.
They presented a proclamation recognizing the outstanding achievement of the boys and their coaches. Congratulations Simon, Caleb, Bennett, Liam, Coach Morens and Coach Rice!

Before break, Mrs. Segatto’s 4th grade class had a special visit from Ms. Hale, our district’s Teacher for the Visually Impaired!
Ms. Hale talked with students about how vision works, what can happen when our eyes don’t work the way they should, and how the eyes and brain don’t always work in perfect sync. Students also got to explore some of the tools she uses, including Braille materials and assistive devices. Students even learned how to spell their names in Braille using M&Ms!
It was a fun, hands-on experience and a meaningful lesson that helped build understanding, curiosity, and empathy. 💙
