🔬Celebrating GCS Scientists🔬
Our elementary students amazed us with their curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills as they explored "things that go" at our Elementary Science Fair.
From thoughtful hypotheses to hands-on experiments, each project reflected the hard work and enthusiasm our students bring to learning every day. We are so proud of their confidence in presenting their ideas and explaining their discoveries!
A big thank you to our teachers, families, and volunteers for supporting our budding scientists along the way. 💙

Our elementary school recently celebrated our character traits of the month-leadership and cooperation- through a wonderful showcase of student involvement and diversity.
Students from our Bilingual and Spanish Clubs took the stage to model and teach common Spanish phrases, giving the audience a chance to learn and participate. We were also treated to music and dancing from our MS/HS Salsa Band, led by Mr. Rood, which added energy and excitement to the celebration!
In addition, we recognized our Students of the Month and presented the GO BLUE Class Spirit Award.
It was a meaningful event that truly highlighted the power of cooperation, leadership, and student voice in our school community!

Did you know that this past weekend was NYS Maple Weekend? 🍁
So it was the perfect opportunity for our elementary students to dive into the science of maple syrup production! In the classroom, students stepped into the role of real maple producers- pretending to tap trees using toy drills and hammers, just like it’s done in nature.
They also got creative by designing their very own maple syrup bottles, showcasing both their artistic skills and creativity.
To top it off, students explored the science behind syrup production by practicing how to use filters and hydrometers to measure sugar content- just like the pros!

Our 3rd grade mathematicians recently got a cheesy introduction to a new math area! 🧀
Using Cheez-Its as square units, students explored how area measures the space inside a shape. By arranging the crackers into different rectangles and shapes, they were able to see how counting square units helps determine area.
It was a fun and hands-on way to bring math concepts to life. Great work, third graders!

First graders explored transparent, translucent, and opaque materials- and then put their learning to work by creating their very own stained glass windows! 🎨
They tested how light passes through different materials and turned their discoveries into colorful masterpieces. Now they decorate the doorways of the school 🌈💡

🧸 Our UPK students recently enjoyed a fun and educational Teddy Bear Picnic! This special activity allowed students to use their imagination while also building important skills, including learning and practicing math concepts. It was a great way to combine play and learning!

We want to send a HUGE congratulations to the members of our 3rd Grade Orchestra and 4th Grade Band for an incredible Beginners Concert tonight!
For many of these students, this was their very first time on stage- showing off everything they’ve learned and all the hard work they’ve put in. It takes courage to perform in front of an audience, and they rose to the occasion with confidence and pride.
We are so proud of their dedication, growth, and beautiful music!

Some of our students recently enjoyed a field trip to see a TYKEs (Theater Young Kids Enjoy) performance of Are You My Mother? at the JCC.
They loved reading the book beforehand and then noticing how the writers changed the story for the stage. It was truly magical to see storytelling come to life!

🌱🐾 Second graders are learning all about seed dispersal! They’ve discovered that seeds can be spread by wind, water, and animals. To explore this, students tested how seeds can “stick” to fluffy animals and be carried to new places. They placed a model seed on our “fluffadoo” animal and hopped around to see how long the seed stayed on. Keep up the great work, second grade!

🎉 Congratulations to Keller, in kindergarten, for being named our Junior Officer of the Month!

Before break, Mrs. Segatto’s 4th grade class had a special visit from Ms. Hale, our district’s Teacher for the Visually Impaired!
Ms. Hale talked with students about how vision works, what can happen when our eyes don’t work the way they should, and how the eyes and brain don’t always work in perfect sync. Students also got to explore some of the tools she uses, including Braille materials and assistive devices. Students even learned how to spell their names in Braille using M&Ms!
It was a fun, hands-on experience and a meaningful lesson that helped build understanding, curiosity, and empathy. 💙
