Some of our sophomores recently took part in their first worksite tour, visiting DP Tool, a metal manufacturing plant in Avon.
During the tour, students saw firsthand how a piece of raw metal material is transformed into finished products. They learned about the process of programming CNC machines and observed how precision parts- such as a differential casing for a Ford Raptor- are created.
Experiences like this give students a valuable look at real-world careers and the advanced technology used in modern manufacturing.
We want to thank Mrs. Harvey for making this possible. Her continued hard work and dedication in creating opportunities for our students to explore, experience, and learn about future career options is truly commendable. Her efforts open meaningful pathways for students to discover their interests and envision their futures with confidence. Our school community is stronger because of her commitment to expanding possibilities for every learner!

Our 6th grade artists recently wrapped up the second part of their Japanese art unit by creating their own maneki neko (beckoning cat) sculptures.
Students learned about the cultural significance of these traditional Japanese symbols and explored the meaning behind the different colors often used in maneki neko designs. After studying their history and purpose, students applied their knowledge to craft unique sculptures that reflect both creativity and cultural understanding.
Their finished pieces are a fun and meaningful celebration of Japanese art and symbolism!

We’re proud to celebrate senior, Caitlyn, whose original animation won the RIT School of Film and Animation Award at the RIT Start Here Exhibition!
Caitlyn created her piece on an iPad, starting with a digital oil painting of a landscape and then animating each falling leaf in a seamless loop over the painting. The result is a beautiful blend of fine art and animation that truly stood out.
Amazing work, Caitlyn—we can’t wait to see what you create next!

📅 Just a reminder: There will be no school for students on Monday, January 26 due to a Superintendent’s Conference Day. Have a great weekend!

Graphic Design students took on a real-world packaging challenge: designing a product that comes in a resealable pouch. Each student created three variations of their product, focusing on branding, consistency, and visual impact. From bold concepts to thoughtful details, these designs show how small changes can make a big difference.

Last month, our 9th grade class spent the day exploring the Buffalo AKG Art Museum.
Students walked through galleries filled with textures, brushstrokes, scale, and color combinations that simply don’t translate through a screen. Standing inches away from a canvas and seeing every intentional mark is a powerful reminder that art is a physical conversation between the artist and the viewer.
Experiences like this highlight why studying art matters- it opens our eyes, inspires creativity, and challenges us to see the world (and our own work) in new ways.
