The Geneseo Central School District is excited to welcome Christy Neu as its new elementary school principal.

Neu joins GCS after working as an assistant principal in Le Roy where she grew up. She has more than 17 years of experience teaching elementary and special education in New York.

Former elementary principal Casey VanEpps will now serve as the district’s director of teaching and learning.

Meet Principal Christy Neu

Background

“I am a mother of twin girls who are in grade 2. We have a fluffy Great Pyrenees named Jetta who keeps us busy every day. We love to take day trips around New York to enjoy the outdoors, particularly anywhere near water. At home, you can find us playing soccer, basketball or reading together.”

Favorite hobby?

“With my mother being an author of almost 60 books, I grew up with a book or a journal in my hands. The same is still today. I also love running, hiking and being silly with my kids.”

What made you choose GCSD?

“As a SUNY Geneseo alumni, I have always held a special place in my heart for the Village of Geneseo. It is the perfect mixture of small town culture grounded in traditions, mixed with a college town full of creative, bustling young minds seeking to make a difference in the world. GCSD is a leader in the GLOW region; always striving to grow with the educational trends to empower staff and students to be the best version of themselves. What more can you ask for!”

What motivates you to work everyday?

“Kids, kids, kids! The smiles, the love of life and learning. I also love getting to know people, building relationships and when humor comes out of that relationship, it's a win-win!”

What are your goals for this school year?

“To learn something new everyday. Whether it is about the Geneseo community; a story from a Kindergarten kiddo, or a new math strategy, I look forward to connecting and growing as a life-long learner alongside our family of Geneseo Blue Devils.”
