Geneseo Central School District students, staff and community members came together for the district’s annual ceremony to honor veterans ahead of Veterans Day, which is celebrated on Nov. 11.
The ceremony on Nov. 9 started with a gathering and raising of the flag by the local veterans, followed by singing from the elementary students.
The elementary school also met with the veterans and read books together in the library.
“From working with students in Kindergarten classrooms on the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance, to listening to songs shared by our elementary students and staff, and finishing the day in the library for show and tell, our local veterans made a positive impact on our school community!” said Elementary school Principal Christy Neu.
The group also spoke to middle and high school students about their experiences.
The veterans at the events were Harry Clark (Navy), Tim Minnich (Navy), Dennis Staley (Navy), Allen Hawley (Army), Ron Long (Army), Tony Gurak (Airforce) and Todd Smith (Marines).
