Over the past few months our Search Consultant has been busy recruiting candidates for our next District Superintendent. 

An important part of this partially-closed/partially-open process is that we are able to reach beyond the local area to recruit candidates that will meet our district needs while maintaining confidentiality of who the candidates are during the early stages.

1. Our initial candidate pool consisted of 21 candidates across a wide geographic area.

2. In March, the Board of Education held a review session with our consultant and discussed each of the 21 candidates.

3. The candidate list was then narrowed to nine who will move to the next stage and be interviewed by the Board of Education in the latter part of April 2025. 

4. Our Consultant has guided the Board of Education to define the process that will be followed for the final interview, including key questions.  

5. Coming out of the April interviews the nine candidates will be narrowed to the top three. 

6. Only after the top three have been selected will we reveal their names, and open the interview process to the public stakeholder interview committees.

7. There will be two public interview committees that will include administrators, faculty, community members, and students. Each of the two committees will include some from each of these stakeholder groups.  

8. The final three candidates will be interviewed by the community stakeholder groups and the Board of Education at the end of April 2025. The community groups will interview during the day and the Board of Education will interview in the evenings. A formal ranking system is being established to provide clear evaluation of the three finalists. Each of the candidates will be required to conduct a brief community forum following the community interview sessions. By doing so we will be able to involve more of the faculty and parents/community than just those in the groups to meet the candidates.

We will be very busy in the latter part of April as we conduct interviews of the top nine and final three all within several days. While this is an aggressive schedule, this process keeps us on track to announce our next Superintendent by the end of April or very early in May 2025. By selecting the next Superintendent in this timeframe, will provide them with sufficient time to properly transition from their current district and work with Interim-Superintendent Dr. Jon Hunter and Executive Principal Mike Salatel to transition into Geneseo by July 1, 2025.
