2025-2026 Budget Information
Public Hearing on Proposed 2025-2026 Budget Scheduled for May 13, 2025
On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, a Public Hearing for the Proposed 2025-2026 Budget will be held at 6:00 P.M. in the McCarthy Auditorium. This important meeting will provide an overview of the proposed budget and offer an opportunity for community members to ask questions and share their thoughts.
2025-2026 Budget Vote Set for May 20, 2025
The 2025-2026 Budget Vote will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the McCarthy Auditorium Foyer. Voting will be open from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, giving community members the opportunity to cast their ballots on the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

BOE Candidates
Gretchen Crane
Gretchen Marks Crane is a lifetime resident with deep connections to Geneseo Central and feels the time is right to give back. Her late parents were Bill, a 1951 GCS graduate, and Betty Marks, a retired GCS teacher. Gretchen is a proud member of the GCS Class of 1982 and an even prouder parent of two alumni children, Mallory GCS 2015 and Noah GCS 2017. Gretchen has spent her professional career as an educator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the College of Wooster, a master’s degree in special education from SUNY Geneseo and will retire in June after 37 years as an elementary teacher at York Central School. Gretchen hopes to bring a perspective to the board that encompasses the many aspects of what is needed to continue to make GCS thrive.
- To sustain and create further learning opportunities for our GCS students.
- To ensure that faculty and staff have a positive work environment.
- To support a budget that fits the needs of both our students and our tax payers.
Gretchen and her husband Jeff live in the village with their naughty dachshund Brutus.
Michael Tenalio
Family: Married to Debbie Tenalio for 45 years. Daughters: Dustine (Vince Roche) and Kristine Tenalio. Grandchildren: Nicholas, Vinny, James & Karli. I have lived in GCS District for 26 years, served on the Geneseo Town Board for three terms, and have been active in Geneseo Kiwanis for 25 years.
Why do I wish to continue to serve on the Board of Education? It has been my honor to serve the past twelve years on the GCSD Board of Education and I thank you for your confidence and support. As Board of Education President, SUNY Geneseo School of Business Faculty, Parent, Grandparent, and active member of this Community, my goals over the next few years include:
- Helping our students obtain the foundational skills to be successful in their college and career(s) of choice.
- Guide the Capital Improvement Project (CIP) you approved in October 2024 to completion. This will finalize the improvements to the auditorium and large gymnasium and enhance building security.
- By May of this year, we will have selected the next Superintendent for our district, and I would like to provide our new leader with the consistent strategic and financial support they will need.
- Another important part of success is to support our faculty and administration and provide them with the resources they need to be successful.
