Scholarships

  • GCEF manages several scholarship funds. Awarded annually to seniors at the Award Ceremony in June, they are:


    Cynthia Claire Allen Memorial Scholarship
    A scholar, musician, thespian and athlete, Claire is remembered for her kindness and compassion towards others and her carefree, determined spirit. This award is given to a student who regularly demonstrates exemplary character and shares Claire’s love for writing.

    Russell Battaglia Memorial Scholarship
    In honor of Russell Battaglia, a 1942 Geneseo graduate and military veteran who went on to a distinguished career in youth services, this award recognizes a graduating senior who is interested in pursuing a career in community development, youth services, or a related field.

    Andrew Clements Long Scholarship
    In remembrance of Andrew Clements Long, a 2005 graduate, this award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated care and compassion for friends and classmates.

    James and Arleen Somerville Academic Growth Scholarship
    Awarded to a student who has done well academically and shows promise of further growth. The student will have worked for pay on a regular basis during his/her high school career.

    Rosemary Welsh Teres Memorial Scholarship
    In memory of a college educator and former president of the Geneseo Central School Board, this award is presented to a serious scholar with a demonstrated interest in the visual arts and a record of service to the school and community.

    William W. Wilcox Biology Scholarship
    In honor of William W. Wilcox, who graduated from Geneseo High School in 1950, went on to Amherst College, class of 1954, and had a career as a Biology and Advanced Biology teacher and Science Department Chairperson at Penfield Central School District. This award is presented to a senior who will be pursuing a degree in biology or a related field.
