Dear Parents: Welcome to Geneseo Central Middle School. The sixth grade teachers are all looking forward to a successful and enjoyable year. I am very excited about providing Special Education services for students this year. The following are some bits of important information that you should be aware of. Some effective ways to communicate with me will be to check your child’s agenda daily and write me a note if you have any questions or concerns. You may also leave a voice mail message and your call will be returned as soon as possible. E-mail is also a great tool for regular communication. My voice mail extension and email address are listed at the bottom of this letter. Homework assignments will be updated daily on the sixth grade website so that your child can check to make sure he/she has completed all of his/her homework.
Some students will have Resource Room support this year. The primary focus of this class will be to work on individual student goals as stated in the IEP. I will be using current curriculum to accomplish this whenever possible. At the beginning of the school year, I will sit down with your child and discuss the IEP goals one-on-one so that he/she knows what he/she is working toward. If you would like to review your child’s IEP, please let me know. Any changes will require a review by the Committee on Special Education. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. Communication will help us all have a productive year. Sincerely, Karen Robinson 6th Grade Special Ed.
